The Record Project

About the Record projectRECORD (2007 – 2010) is a research project targeting online communities. In particular communities where users share and experience audiovisual content. RECORD aims to provide knowledge and methodologies to improve development of online community products and services. The project leader is Opinion. The remaining partners are the SINTEF and AHO (research institutions), Telenor, NRK, and VIF (content providers), and Opera Software (technology supplier.

The Tasks

In this project we, as students, have the option to choose between two different task to work with. The first is provided by Telenor, and the second is provided by VIF.

Telenor Task

Explore concepts for providing relevant and engaging audiovisual content (film, tv-series, documentaries) through social features and applications, to specific target audience.

Choose a minimum of two personas from the active family target audience group and explore different concepts (tools, features, applications etc.) for each of them.

Use the realities of the existing solution as a starting point and project that 2 -3 years into the future, how will social features have affected this application. How does the different personas benefit from the service?

VIF Task

We want to explore the potentials in social web-based campaign -application for VIF. By a campaign we mean an aåpplication that is limited in time, based around a specific event, activity or target audience and has specific goal or purpose. The area of a campaign can be (a combination) of the following:

  • Miniklanen (- 12 years old supporters)
  • Supporter 2.0 (supporter generated content)
  • Inside stories (communication with top players and management)
  • A tournament
  • A match
  • A football season
  • Statistics
  • Merchandise

Each of these limitation offer different lenses and angles through which you can attack the task. Chose on area or a combination areas to set up a frame for yourself in which you can explore new ideas and concepts.

My approach

I have chosen to work with the Telenor task because I find the the concept with online tv pretty interesting. The task is divided in smaller iteration and smaller deliverables. You can follow the work on this task by using the links below:
